Domke Camera Bag vs. Sunny 16 Voyager Camera Backpack
If you're looking for a new camera bag, you might be surprised at how affordable some of the alternatives are! We recently tested two backpacks that are on the market right now to help you find the perfect fit for your needs. While the Domke camera bag is an option for some photographers, there are some drawbacks to consider before purchasing. One downside is that the shoulder bags are not Ideal since it puts a lot of pressure on one shoulder vs both shoulders evenly.
Additionally, the bag doesn't have a lot of compartments or organizational pockets, so it can be difficult to keep everything organized and in its place. The Sunny 16 Voyager camera bag on the alternative features more pockets, security features and interior capacity for your camera equipment and personal items. Not to mention, the comfort in the shoulder pads and back mesh are more than the Domke camera bag.
The Domke Camera Bag
Some photographers may decide to go with the Domke bag. However, there are some issues that potential buyers should be aware of before making a purchase. I will dive into the features of this camera bag in this article.
Not Very Durable
The Domke next generation chronicle camera bag generally does not hold up as well to daily wear and tear. While most budget travel backpacks are designed for style and color, this next generation Domke camera bag may not last the longest. Some users have complained about the flimsy hooks for the shoulder strap & hand strap.

Small Interior Capacity
If you are looking for a very spacious camera bag, the Domke F2 original camera bag may not be your best option. This bag is designed for entry-level photographers who do not need a large capacity. If you are a medium to a pro photographer, the Domke bag may not have enough room for your equipment.
The Sunny 16 Voyager has a variety of pockets and compartments to keep your camera and accessories safe and organized. You can fit 3+ camera bodies, atleast 3+ camera lenses, accessories and personal items.
No USB Charger
Yet another downside of the Domke bag is that it does not come with a USB charger. If you're on a shoot, there's a high probability that your batteries will get drained — that's why it's important to have a power bank to keep your devices chargers so you never miss a shot.
The Voyager camera backpack features a USB port on the outside of the backpack to make it easy to charge your electronics while you're on the move.
No Secret Pockets
The Domke camera bag does not feature hidden compartments and pockets which does not make it ideal especially when you're traveling or heading to photoshoots — with many prying eyes! Secret hidden pockets are great for your car keys, passports or anything valuable that you want to keep out of reach.
The Sunny 16 Voyager camera bag on the other hand comes with a hidden zipper pocket for your most important items.
No Trolley SleeveÂ
The Domke camera bag can be used for carrying your camera and other gear. However, it does not have a trolley sleeve for easy transportation when you're traveling with your suitcase
On the flip side, the Sunny 16 Voyager camera bag features a trolley passthrough for easier traveling when you're at the airport.
